Komodo Trekker – Terms and Conditions

At Komodo Trekker, we strive to ensure that your trip runs smoothly and that you enjoy the highest quality service. While we aim to provide a seamless and unforgettable experience, unforeseen circumstances may arise. The following terms and conditions outline your responsibilities, our policies, and important legal matters. These terms serve as a framework for resolution if needed, but we often seek reasonable solutions before invoking them.

1. Assumption of Risk

By participating in hiking, snorkeling, or any other activity organized by Komodo Trekker, you certify and acknowledge that:

  • You are physically fit to engage in the activities planned.
  • You have received or will receive adequate training for these activities.
  • You understand the risks involved in traveling, living, and engaging in activities on board a boat, as well as natural hazards.
  • You voluntarily accept and assume these risks.

2. Liability Waiver

To participate in any Komodo Trekker activity, you agree to release and hold harmless Komodo Trekker, its partners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, injury, or loss, including death, resulting from:

  • Participation in activities.
  • Travel and living aboard boats.
  • Unforeseen natural events or emergencies.
  • You also acknowledge that:
  • Tour modifications or cancellations may occur due to weather, local conditions, or technical difficulties.
  • You are responsible for any damage or loss caused by your negligence or abuse of property belonging to Komodo Trekker or its partners.
  • You will comply with additional rules and guidelines set by Komodo Trekker and its guides.

3. Payment Terms

  • Deposit: 25% of total trip cost upon booking.
  • Final Payment: Remaining 75% due 30 days before departure.
  • Failure to pay the final balance on time allows Komodo Trekker to cancel the booking, retain the deposit, and resell the activity.
  • Special Offers / Last-Minute Bookings / Packages: 100% payment required within 24 hours of booking.
  • Payment Methods: Secure online payment via PayPal (American Express, Visa, MasterCard) or bank transfer. Bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the sender.

4. Cancellation Policy

  • More than 30 days before departure: Refund of deposit minus USD 130 administration fee and any bank/PayPal transaction fees.
  • Less than 30 days before departure: No refund.
  • Important Notes:
  • Cancellations must be sent in writing via email (komodotrekker@gmail.com). Cancellations by phone, SMS, or chat are not valid.
  • Full charters: Non-refundable. The chartering party is responsible for replacements if individual participants cancel. Payment schedule:
  • 25% to block the boat
  • 25% six weeks later
  • Remaining balance eight weeks before departure

5. Unused Services

No refunds or compensation are provided for unused portions of a trip. Guests leaving early or missing activities are not entitled to a partial refund.

6. Program Changes

Komodo Trekker reserves the right to: 

  • Rearrange itineraries.
  • Cancel or substitute activities due to local conditions, safety, or operational requirements.
  • Participation may be restricted if a guest fails to follow safety instructions, park regulations, or handles marine life improperly. Missed activities due to such restrictions will not be refunded.

7. Booking Policy and Procedure

  • Once availability is confirmed, a 25% deposit is required to secure your booking (if booked more than 4–8 weeks in advance).
  • Bookings closer than 4–8 weeks require full payment.
  • Confirmation is provided once the deposit or full payment is received.

8. Insurance Requirements

We strongly require all guests to purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering:

  • Medical and accident expenses
  • Trip cancellation/interruption
  • Lost baggage and personal belongings
  • Liability coverage
  • Insurance should also cover travel disruptions due to natural disasters, flight delays, or technical malfunctions. Komodo Trekker is not responsible for any financial loss if you do not carry appropriate insurance.

9. Governing Principles

Participation in Komodo Trekker activities constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. Guests agree to abide by all instructions, rules, and regulations set by Komodo Trekker staff and local authorities.

By confirming your booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and unconditionally agree to these Terms and Conditions.
